The Rio Nuevo board will support the Fox Tucson Theatre‘s vision to expand and create a welcoming, sophisticated downtown performing arts and events destination. Rio Nuevo will forgive the existing loan and sell back the theatre to the Fox Theatre Foundation allowing the Fox to use the building for project financing.
The Fox Theatre will expand into the buildings on North Stone Avenue creating a new and upgraded performance venue with a wrap-around digital marquee, new restrooms, lobby space, bars, kitchen, flexible performance and event center, and an outdoor rooftop bar and dining space.
The Fox Theatre’s vision will serve a greater diversity of activities, artists, and audiences while honoring and building upon the history of the Tucson community.
The Fox Theatre will hold a capital campaign for the 21M, 20,000SF expansion project in 2022.
