In a special meeting the Rio Nuevo board unanimously approved the construction and seat bids for the arena. The overall bids came in at the budgeted amount for the 7.8 million dollar project. The city of Tucson has approved an additional $544,000 for repairs that will be supervised by the same contractor. Construction is scheduled to start in March and conclude around Christmas.
