The Rio Nuevo Board voted unanimously to coordinate with Sun Corridor, Inc. to develop an incentive package capped at $500,000 to bring fashion icon, Joey Rodolfo, and his Seattle-based design studio, WOW Studios, to Downtown’s One East Toole. Rodolfo has created and designed some of America’s top menswear brands including Tommy Bahama and Cutter & Buck.
Board Chairman Fletcher McCusker stated this step would be an investment in an entirely new industry for Downtown Tucson.
The Board also unanimously approved a motion to authorize its executive officers to provide up to $300,000 to Empire Pizza. This will enable them to expand east into the former Hydra space to enhance their food service operations. Their existing space at 137 E. Congress St. is very narrow and makes meeting COVID-19 restaurant regulations nearly impossible. This will revitalize the northwest corner of Congress and 6th Avenue which has been vacant for several years.
